Overhead sanitary sewer conversion cost-share
- 50% Village / 50% homeowner, up to a $7,500 reimbursement on a $15,000 total project.
- For homes on a Village-maintained sanitary sewer with gravity service that's susceptible to backup.
- The project must include a sump pit, an ejector pump and a watertight line to the existing service, plus rehabilitation of the private lateral to the main and removal of all storm connections to the sanitary system.
- Reimbursement is based on at least three cost estimates. Expect to provide an approved inspection checklist, a televised inspection of the new or rehabilitated service, and paid receipts and lien waivers.
- Not covered: permit and architectural fees, rodding or televising, interior redecorating, drywall, flooring, and decorative landscaping or hardscape.
Why older Glenview homes are vulnerable
The Village's program sheet says many vulnerable homes were built when standards allowed gravity foundation-drain connections and less rigorous sanitary service requirements. Stormwater then infiltrates private services and public sewers.
